My name is Rebekah J. Swanson and I've been a resident of the Mojave River Valley since 1985. I was hired as a teacher for Hesperia Unified School District at that time, and I have made may home here, married my Best Beloved and we have raised our children. Will and Julia, here.
I've always taught my children that one should be part of the community, to give back and to be a part of a solution. I have always volunteered and through that I was selected to be the founding president of the Friends of the library. We began with a little 1,200 square foot library and with efforts from the school district, county and city we were able to build the 20,000 square foot Hesperia branch library.
From that experience, I moved to an elected position as a director at the Hesperia Recreation and Park District, a position I held for 10 years. I felt I left them in a good place and as a city council member was retiring and leaving a seat open. It was time to move to the City Council of Hesperia where I've served since 2016.
